Orlando Maternity Photographer/ Waiting for Little D
This is probably one of my favorite maternity sessions and I DO love maternity so much! The S family was expecting Baby David and gave me a call to capture this time for them. I was so happy after our maternity session because I knew that we were an awesome fit. Little D shares his daddy's name and I cannot wait to share his newborn session. It is truly precious and one of my favorite newborn sessions to date as well! This is such a beautiful couple inside and out. I think their wardrobe looks fabulous, dresses are an absolute favorite of mine for maternity as it really showcases that baby belly. I'm looking so forward to seeing them again when little D is older. : ) Look for little D's sweet newborn session very soon on the blog! Some more thoughts about maternity and newborn portraiture: This is such a precious time to capture of your family when you are awaiting that little person. The maternity session allows for me to really get to know a family before the big newborn session. I'm so humbled when families contact me to capture these special times in their lives. It means so much to be invited into your home and capture your family together only days after you have gotten home from the hospital. I think all of my newborn clients would agree that it IS worth it to have these memories and is truly an investment that your babies will cherish as they grow up (as well as you!).On little A's first birthday, we were looking at our maternity portraits and her newborn portraits which L asked me where hers were. We of course have snapshots that I shared with her, but I'm so sad to say I didn't take the time to do this and really wish I had. I too was like many women I know who are pregnant and just didn't feel portrait worthy. I also wish I had hired someone for my newborn session instead of doing them myself because I have no sweet mommy/ baby images that I SO wish I had now. Maybe that's why those are my favorite images at sessions now. Enough of my coulda, woulda, shouldas... because I can't change that and can only capture now. In turn, I do portraits with my kiddos a couple of times a year to make sure they will have them WITH their mommy in them. I'm sure it will be important to them one day as it is to me.I am SUCH a huge advocate of these two sessions for my reasons stated above. It may happen once or twice (or maybe more) and it truly is a special time in your lives. Though you might feel bloated, with swollen ankles and not feel your best the pictures are about what is really happening in your lives at that moment. It's what life is about... family, togetherness and love. So what do I tell families looking to book these sessions? Find a professional that is a good match for your family and their needs. I strongly encourage a photographer who is properly equipped, (yes backup equipment is a must so ask if your photographer has it!), is licensed, insured and someone you can trust and who is experienced with newborns and the safety precautions necessary to create many popular images.
